As he was with many others, Bob was a larger-than-life inspiration to us. Bob and Margrit’s commitment to elevating Napa Valley’s reputation and strengthening the community made an indelible impression on us. As he was fond of saying, “…to be a world-class wine region, all boats must rise together.”

Barbara and her husband Milt purchased a Calistoga vineyard where they began growing grapes in 1969. They established the Eisele Vineyard and set it on its journey to becoming one of the finest sources of cabernet grapes in the Valley. When our family moved to Rutherford, we had the good fortune to find Barbara living just down the hill from us. “Baba” to Elena and Alexandra, she was always up for cookies and a game of jacks — or a glass of wine with the grown-ups. We spent many lovely hours with Baba and miss her still.
